FAQ - Tips

Dragon Warrior 4 is different from the first 3 as it does not have anything to do with Erdrick. This game consists of  5 different chapters where you can play the hero, or heroes of each. Chapters 1 through 4 give you the background of each of the characters who will eventually become your party. Those characters combine with the true "hero" of the game in chapter 5 to form the largest and most powerful army ever.

Check out Getting Started page for a complete description of who you play as, and what you do in each of the 5 chapters. Even though it differs from the original trilogy, Dragon Warrior 4 is still an excellent game. With nearly 200 different monsters, and around 60 different locations to visit, as well as countless allies to
aid you, this is the biggest game
of the Dragon Warrior NES series.

Released in 1992 by Enix for the Nintendo Entertainment System of America, Dragon Warrior 4 will satisfy the warrior who seeks a long, enduring journey, but with a twist of variety. Like all Dragon Warrior sequels, it introduces many new and colorful enemies, however this game brings back several enemies from all three of the past Dragon Warrior games for a bit of nostalgia. Check our Codes page for Game Genie Codes to disable automatic fighting, which gives you control of your party for chapter 5, which is the bulk of the game. With familiar characters, enemies, and of course graphics, playing Dragon Warrior 4 will make you
feel as though you are fulfilling your lifelong destiny.
