**The Hero is the only class that cannot change during the game. Any other class by change professions after they hit level 20**

**You will want to check the Spells section to see which spell each character can cast, also check the weapons, helmets, armor, and shields sections to see exactly which can be equipped on each character**

VIT: The measure of Vitality. IQ: The measure of Intelligence.
LUCK: The measure of Luck. ATK: Indicates how high of an Attack Power this class gets (includes available weapons).

Hero
HP: Excellent MP: Average
STRENGTH: Excellent AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Very Good IQ: Average
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Excellent
EXPERIENCE: High DEFENSE POWER: Excellent
The Hero is the supreme warrior of Dragon Warrior III because he is the total package. He can wear the best armor and helmets, as well as equip himself with the strongest shields and weapons. There are only a few weapons and armor that he cannot be equipped with. He is a user of magic, and even has a few powerful spells that are not known by the Wizard or Pilgrim. In terms of strength he is one of the strongest of his party.

Soldier
HP: Excellent MP: None
STRENGTH: Excellent AGILITY: Poor
VITALITY: Very Good IQ: Poor
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Excellent
EXPERIENCE: Low DEFENSE POWER: Excellent
The strongest member of your party, however his disadvantage is that his strength is all he has. The Soldier does not know any magic, and is very slow. His attack and defense power are the best in the game. He can equip himself with most weapons and armor like the hero.

Pilgrim
HP: Average MP: Excellent
STRENGTH: Good AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Average IQ: Good
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Good
EXPERIENCE: Average DEFENSE POWER: Good
The Pilgrim knows many spells, but specializes in healing types. Though not as strong as the Hero or Soldier, the Pilgrim is still a very good fighter. He cannot be equipped with as much armor and weaponry, but what you can equip him with is more than enough.

Wizard
HP: Poor MP: Excellent
STRENGTH: Poor AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Poor IQ: Excellent
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Poor
EXPERIENCE: Above Average DEFENSE POWER: Poor
The Wizard is very weak in terms of attack and defense power, but he makes up for that with his superior knowledge of magic, particular fighting spells. The Wizard is very limited in terms of which weapons and armor he can be equipped with. He is an excellent candidate to turn into a Sage.

Fighter
HP: Excellent MP: None
STRENGTH: Excellent AGILITY: Outstanding
VITALITY: Very Good IQ: Poor
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Excellent
EXPERIENCE: Above Average DEFENSE POWER: Very Good
The Fighter is not as strong as the Soldier, but he is very cheap to buy for because all he needs to be equipped with is the Iron Claw and Fighting Suit. He is much more agile than the Soldier, and gains experience a little faster. The Fighter also does not know any magic.

Merchant
HP: Average MP: None
STRENGTH: Average AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Average IQ: Average
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Poor
EXPERIENCE: Below Average DEFENSE POWER: Average
The Merchant is excellent at finding gold and items after you defeat an enemy. he can also appraise a weapon or item instantly. He has average strength, poor attack power, and no knowledge of magic at all. A merchant is needed to start up the New Town, but you can just sit one of your party members at Lucia's place for a little bit while you drop off a merchant there.

Goof-Off
HP: Below Average MP: None
STRENGTH: Average AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Average IQ: Average
LUCK: Outstanding ATTACK POWER: Extremely Poor
EXPERIENCE: Very Low DEFENSE POWER: Poor
The Goof-Off should only be brought along when your party is very strong. They are useless in battle, and cannot be equipped with most weapons and armor. They are to be brought along for fun, or to turn into a Sage. The Goof-Off is the only class that you can turn into a Sage without the Book of Satori. You just have to wait until they are at level 20.

Sage
HP: Above Average MP: Excellent
STRENGTH: Average AGILITY: Average
VITALITY: Above Average IQ: Very Good
LUCK: Average ATTACK POWER: Very Good
EXPERIENCE: Very High DEFENSE POWER: Very Good
The Sage can cast both Pilgrim and Wizard spells, however no person may start as a Sage. You have to find the Book Of Satori, which is located in the tower of Garunda north of Dhama, to turn a member into a Sage after they are at level 20. When you are stronger in the game you can bring along a Goof-Off and turn them into a Sage at level 20 without the Book of Satori.

After reaching level 20, any character (except the hero) can change their class. The place to change your class is the Shrine of Dharma, located North of Baharata.

When someone changes classes they lose all experience points and goes back to level 1. They also lose half of all attributes (max. HP, max. MP, etc.); They do  remember all spells they learned up to that point, so it is possible to turn a Wizard into a Soldier, making it a Soldier who knows magic.
