.............Descendant of Erdrick, Listen to my words. It is told that in the past ages Erdrick fought demons with a

Ball of Light. Then came the Dragonlord who stole the precious globe and hid it in the darkness.

Now thou must help us recover the Ball of Light, and restore peace to our land. The Dragonlord must be defeated.

Take now whatever thou may find in these Treasure Chests to aid thee in thy quest. Then speak with the guards for they have much knowledge that may aid thee.

May the light shine upon thee..................

..........and so with the instructions from the great King Lorik you now set out on a journey to defeat the evil Dragonlord, however the journey is long and peril, and it takes one kind of warrior to survive it......a Dragon Warrior.

Originally released in 1986 by Enix Corporation under the name Dragon Quest for the Japanese Famicon Entertainment System, Dragon Quest was brought to the United States in 1989 under the name Dragon Warrior for Nintendo Entertainment System of America.

In Dragon Warrior you will fight mythical monsters of all shapes and sizes. You will take on the most deadliest creatures of all, match wits with the most shrewdest Wizards and Magicians, and battle with giants who are almost impervious to pain. Defeating these monsters is not easy, however it is capable with the proper training and experience, along with equipping yourself with top of the line weapons and armor. You earn gold and experience by defeating each enemy you do battle with. As your experience grows so does your strength, and ability to perform the most potent magic spells. Explore the world of Alefgard, talk to the people of each town you visit, for they may keep the darkest secrets in which you desire. Stay at the Inns to regain your strength, upgrade your sword, shield, and armor whenever possible, and purchase items like torches and herbs which will help aid you in your journey.

When strong enough, do dare to enter all dungeons you come across, for the deeper you go in them, the more rewarding the experience shall be. As you move along on your journey, take note of all that you see, and record all conversations you have, for you never know what may be useful when the time comes. Your journey will take you to the Castle of the Dragonlord himself, known to all as Charlock Castle. Upon entering this dynamic structure it will appear as though your quest has just started. Do not get discouraged by stronger enemies, for after many battles you to can become strong enough to not only defeat the minions of the Dragonlord, but to defeat the Dragonlord himself.

Use the information we have gathered on this site to aid you in your quest. You will find maps of castles, towns, caves, and dungeons, as well as a map of the world of Alefgard itself. You will find pictures and statistics on all enemies you may come across in your journey, as well as tips
on the best way to defeat them. You will find instructions on starting your quest, and even a downloadable copy of the NSF file itself to play on any NES emulator. Read through each section as needed, and use all of your resources to defeat the evil Dragonlord, return the Ball of Light to its rightful home, and bring peace to the good people of Alefgard, like your great ancestor Erdrick of long ago.
